New MPG post repairs WAS Re: Removing carbon build up??

My mileage has definitely gone up since Christmas. I was going to go through 2
tanks before I let anyone know, but that it appears that will be the end of next
week :).

OK, I left Syracuse with 112 miles on my tripometer (changed the MAP sensor and
O2 at 100), and I got all the way to Bloomsburg, PA. That's 204 miles on a
little less than half a tank. I was really excited about that because it looked
like the MPG was over 23 MPG, but 349 miles later I need to fill up again. That
calculated to 18.65 MPG. I was driving an average of 75 mph the way home
compared to 70 mph the way down. There was also about 140 of city driving on
the 2nd tank.

I think this cold weather makes it a bit difficult to squeeze the MPG out of the
truck. I'm halfway to work by the time she heats up to normal, so I figure it's
running rich until then. I'll let you know what I get this next tank is
though.
18 MPG is much better than 10, so I am content, but I'd be REALLY happy if I got
what I used to. I guess I expected a little bit better since I changed the
timing belt too. Oh, I've checked 4 times since Christmas, and I have NO codes
on the computer :)

Drive safe,
Mike S.
