RE: OPEC

Now hold on a minute. The world has always been able to keep up with
technology as long as countries that develop the technology, such as the US,
allows that to happen. I don't believe that causing the world to start
stepping away from a depletable resource such as dino oil will cause
countries to shrink up and die. I feel the oil industry leaders keep
technology from advancing because their businesses are not diversified
enough to handle the obsolescence of oil. For that matter, perhaps
technology would have kept us from our power problems today (California),
sans politics, that is. It's not just making OPEC sweat either. Sooner or
later the issues will come to the forefront, enough so that people won't
take a back seat to the fuel problem. That and the emissions
problems...fuel cells, here we come (Popular Sci, Feb '01).

The same with the story of 'COLD FUSION'. Cold Fusion works, but having it
would destroy a lot of the world's countries that depend on dino oil
revenues. There are more than 12 known Cold Fusion sites that are still in
experimentation phase and working throughout the world.
