-Jon-good lead, got a great deal on an all-metal 2-row radiator (larger
-capacity than stock)...AND they delivered out here to the sticks!
-Had some difficulty mating the Hayden fan back to the new radiator
-as it was
-thicker and the mounting rods were too short, so spent most of
-tonite fabbing
-up a bracket out of flat aluminum bars and bolting those to the radiator
-edges...froze my arse off tonite working outside! Also changed out
-to a new
-Robertshaw 180 thermostat as long as everything was apart...
-suspect some of the cooling issue might be related to airflow so
-contemplating on having a new shroud fabricated to direct the
-flow...(don't
-suppose you still have my old shroud still laying around?)
-other observations: Hayden Adj. Thermostat switch may have been bad so am
-replacing with new one. Sealing relay with RTV and leads with
-silicon grease
-to prevent moisture buildup and corrosion (was apparent on old control).
--getting larger capacity coolant overflow tank.
--new radiator cap.
-Will resume installation of new radiator/fan assembly and switch wiring
-tomorrow evening. DAMN I hope like hell there was no serious engine damage
-done....

--OK, so now that my radiator needs to be replaced (see previous
-
--thread), I was
-
--wondering if there was a heavier-duty radiator that I could bolt
-
--in place of
-
--my stock Gen II V6...say the radiator for a V8? or a heavy duty
-
--radiator? I
-
--need to order tomorrow AM, so any input appreciated. My last radiator blew
-
--up, am hoping to find a replacement that has more cooling capacity...
-
--if a v8 radiator bolts up, do the hoses still line up? Anyone?
-
--
-
--The dealer has 2 radiators listed for a 96 dakota: standard and
-
--heavy-duty.
-
--Apparently the heavy duty includes lines for the transmission or
-
--something. I
-
--don't have the heavy-duty cooling package, but would be interested in the
-
--raduiator if it had extra cells, even if I have to seal up any
-
--extra lines to
-
--it? Does anyone have a v6 heavy-duty that could tell lme how many
-
--lines are
-
--hooked to it?

--suggestions? >>
