I do not know the extent of the damage to your DAk in your accident, but
there is a possibility that the frame was tweaked and even though the
alignment is set to factory specs, the steering and control arms could be
out of kilter causing the problem.
I have never done work on the trans in my 93 Dakota, but have had several
manual shift vehicles and never changed engine oil when installing a clutch
or work of that type.
