I used to have a hose going from the driver's side valve cover, which ran
into my trucks stock air filter housing. When I fabbed up my 'PoBoy'
Homebrew cold air intake kit, I didnt use this hose going from the air hat
to the valve cover. I am using a GenIII air hat, probably the air hat like
you have on your 98 Dak; if you notice there is a little fitting molded into
the air hat, which I assume would be for a valve cover breather hose. I
plugged this hose fitting with a cap and bought a K&N breather. This K&N
breather is the all metal unit, which I would only suggest buying the all
metal unit cause the K&N breather with the rubber base will eventually
dry/heat rot over time and fall apart. The K&N breather I am using is all
metal and is the 'shielded' version; K&N Breather Filter PN#62-1520. I think
I paid somewhere around $20-$25 for it through Summit. Even though it is
chrome(I dont prefer chrome anything), it looks good under the hood. I think
you live close to me(Hammond, IN here), so if you wanna meet up and take a
look and a trial fit of the breather, let me know. Hope this helps.
