The only time it made a unusual noise was when the problem occurred.
Clattered like hell. At first I almost thought the timing was retarding
heavily. On these motors instead of having the dist drive gear on the dist
and a rod down to the oil pump the rod and gear are one piece and the dist
plugs into it. They called it an oil pump drive gear in this bulletin but I
believe it is the dist drive gear they are referring to.
