On the underdrive pulley...the guy's an idiot. It doesn't affect emissions at
all. (We tested those back in the early 90's...no difference.)

I also re-read the post and on the open-element filter (14"x3" Round),
no...they don't have a EO#. Intake Tube Systems such as the Volant or K&N Gen-
II are approved...open element filters have never been that way. (Sorry)

I did contact the TX DPS regarding the C.A.R.B. exemptions about 6 months ago
and the moron on the other end of the phone actually told me "Didn't you notice
the 'Welcome to Texas' sign when you crossed the border...this isn't California
and we have different rules". This is a line of crap since the CA emissions
are a huge deciding factor in setting the standards for the rest of the
country...unfortunately for him, his supervisor didn't like that comment and
then corrected his mis-informed employee that the C.A.R.B. EO#'s are valid in
TX. (This is also where I found the info for the 2003 Chassis-Test Smog
Inspection dates.)

The K&N FIPK for the '96 trucks (P/N# 57-1501) "Exempted by the California Air
Resource Board, FIPKs make it possible to experience the rapid acceleration of
enhanced air flow while meeting the tough emissions standards of C.A.R.B"

On the standard round filters: "Aircharger Kits are NOT legal for sale or use
on pollution controlled vehicles. These kits replace the original air filter
box and may eliminate or defeat some emission controls."
