Only works if the spare is mounted to the same type of wheel as the rest of
the truck.

Another option: Rotate only 4 tires. When it comes time to buy new. Buy
three (same make and size as spare), put the spare on the truck (remount if
necessary) and pick the best of the old tires as a spare. Of course this is
subject to the condition of the spare depending on how air and road
pollution have effected the rubber.

Just another way to go but may have some pitfalls.
