Use a flashlight and look down inside the throttle body with the throttle held
open and see if it looks oily inside the intake. You may just have a bad belly
pan gasket and sucking oil out of the lifter gallery. The converter can hide
some mild oil burning. However a quart in 3000 miles is very small amount
anyway.
