Okay I was wrong about some things but that doesn't make it any less
complex. The ambient temperature sensor is connected directly to the OHC.
That's about the only thing. The minitrip computer is connected to the data
bus which part of the CCD. The CCD has the logic that talks to the CTM.
Between the CCD and CTM the logic circuits request data from the PCM which
has the fuel capacities and the odometer readings. The PCM answers the
request at specific intervals and passes the requested information to the
data bus. The OHC then gets this information in conjunction with the
information from the CTM and determines things such as Elapsed Time, Avg
MPG, current MPG, etc. The compass is a module built into the OHC but has
inputs (or maybe outputs) to the CTM but I didn't look real close to see
what information was gleaned from that. So, as I said before, if the Dodge
dealers don't want to tackle it (and they have a heck of a lot more
experience) why would you. Their reply to me was...go buy a truck that has
that in it already. Of course I won't say it can't be done because there
are aftermarket units out there...but I believe they put in their own
sensors and get their own readings from the various devices. The
information I have given you is based on the 2000 Dakota. Since computer
technology changes so much from year to year I would guess your 99 doesn't
follow the same rules as the 2000's. I already know the 2001's changed
because of new computer systems that weren't in the 2000's.

I don't think it's as simple as that. I'll check again but I believe you
may have to have a new CTM as well. I know that a part of the OHC connects
to the CABS as well to get miles. There's also a sensor so it can determine
fuel capacity. In any case I don't have the diagrams for the 99's. These
things change from year to year.

I don't. Yeah, I know I'm gonna need to wire it, that's why I want the
wiring diragrams).
