I sold my '83 Toyota truck with 204500 miles on it. It didn't burn any oil.
At 4K miles, it as just a full as it was when I changed the oil the last
time. I never had to add anything to that engine. 1qt. is excessive.
Something is wrong. It's either hitting the ground or going through the
engine. A couple of hours doing a compression check, belly pan gasket check,
maybe pulling the valve covers to check for shredded valve guids. Seems very
reasonable to do these thigns before saying either it's fine don't worry
about it or pulling the engine with a rebuild in mind.
