I wish I could push it in all the way, but then the bracket which is welded
to this P.O.S. metal pipe wont line up for the bolt. Both the stock pipe and
the pipe I bought today are the same length, and both have the bracket
welded on in the same spot. This bracket basically denotes how far into the
water the pipe can actually go. I would love to have the pipe go in as far
as i can actually push it into the water pump, but then the bracket is
useless and nothing will support this hose. The factory pipe had no other
sealants on it, other than the stupid little o-ring, so you are right Jon I
shouldnt have to use any kind of RTV. I should be able to insert the metal
pipe with the o-ring attached into the water pump, and bolt on the support
bracket, and do this without any leaks. However, I tried this 3 times now
and every time I do it, it just keeps on leaking. I am going to drain the
radiator so the water pump is dry, clean the water pump's hole out(where the
metal tube goes into) and then apply a nice bead of sealant to the upper
portion(above the o-ring) of the metal tube. I am then going to push the
pipe into the hole and let the sealant setup for about an hour or so. If
this doesnt work then I am going to sit back, load up my H&K USP40, shoot
the shit out of the water pump(have a mere 1,000 rounds of 185grain 40cal on
hand), and then go have a talk with Autozone :)
Sounds like a plan so far. Oh well, just another day tomorrow morning
driving a 2000 V6 loaded Taurus to work, leather and a sunroof.......6
speaker Mach stereo system........yeah I will almost be ready to get my Dak
back on the road ;)
