A little trick here to keep the excess gasket goo from getting stuck in your
thermostat.
Get the tube started into the hole in the water pump, put a liberal bead
around the base,
push the tube in until the o-ring, rebead, seat the tube. I had a similar
problem, and this
worked. DO NOT get the sealer into the cooling system as the excess will
get caught
up in the thermostat, and hang it open or closed at the worst possible
times.
