Well my dad and I finally got my brother's girlfriends car put back
together, and ended up needing to return a part which we thought we would
need to replace. I ended up exchanging this part and paying $20 additional
for a Bosch oxygen sensor for my truck. I figured what the heck, may as well
get a new one and rule one more variable out! As soon as I get off the puter
I am going to order a Air/Fuel Ratio Guage(still unsure which one!) and a
Holley Air Cleaner Gasket(the .200 thick model, PN#108-62) from Summit, and
those should be in Monday.
I also checked my maintenance records, and I have had my current catalytic
converter on for 65,000 miles and the first converter lasted 70,000 miles;
so I am just going to replace it! Plain and simple. We actually just had a
new converter put on my brother's girlfriends car and that car runs 150%
better(I also put a new 02 sensor on right after the new converter got put
on).
I did do the carb cleaner test today, and nothing happened, just made a mess
of my engine compartment! :)
Pep Boys has Exide Select Orbital batteries on sale; $129 on sale for $109
after core. This battery is rated 1000CA/800CCA and it is virtually an
Optima clone. I am going to pick one up Saturday and install it.....probably
in the lot and get my core charge back right away. I am going to put the
stock injector cleaning/balancing on hold for now. If the rich running
condition still continues, then I will go ahead and send them in for this
service. A new set of Autolite Coppers will be put in when the converter/02
sensor/Air Fuel Monitor are installed. Well this is the plan atleast! Wish
me luck and keep your fingers crossed.
