Sorry, I have 15K mostly highway miles on my '00 QC 4.7L auto 4X4 3.92
anti slip and the best mileage to date is 16 MPG. When towing a trailer
I get 12 MPG (highway). I'm sure the 4X2's get alittle better mileage.
For oil, I'm running 10W-30 non synthetic(like I run in all of my
cars), but the dealer mechanic told me that you should only run 5w-30
because the oil ports are so small that they can get plugged easier with
the thicker oil. I don't see a problem with thicker oil becasue first
of all, i change my oil every 3K miles and second, the owners manual has
10W-30 listed as an accepted oil viscosity.
On a side note, I don't go near synthetic engine oil anymore. Most
synthetics actually have a carbon base to them since the Gov. started
allowing them to do so(up to now Mobil 1, as far as I know, is still
100% synthetic). I found for every day driving, change your oil every
3K miles and you will get no sludge or carbon build up. I had a 90 Full
size chevy truck 350 with 240K miles(I still see it around the neighbor
hood), a 96 with 120K miles, my wifes Cherokee currently has 158K miles,
my Porsche 124K miles and countless other cars in my family all
last(ed)well over 100K miles and all without a single oil related engine
problem(not a single one burt a drop of oil). On everyone of them, when
you remove the oil cap, the engine looks inside as good as the day I
bought it.
 I've used synthetics before(in an 87 Fiero GT for about 15K miles)and
the only advantage I noticed was in the extreme cold winter mornings,
the oil pressure would build immediately. There wouldn't be the lifter
tape associated with frozen carbon based oil. I didn't get any mileage
increase or anymore power with the synthetics).
