Re: Poplock Power Tailgate Lock Install questions...

Chris, I put a power lock in my truck, and I used a trailer wire connector to
make a quick disconnect so that I can easily remove the tailgate. It was
easier for me to go to the passenger side with the harness, because of the
accessibility constraints the brake/fuel lines and the gas tank on the
driver's side. I ran the harness up the passenger side and I found a rubber
plug in the passenger side of the firewall easily accessible by looking
under the truck right around the heat sheild on the firewall. I just removed
the plug, passed the harness through, and ran it under the dash over to the
driver's side to make the connections. When I routed the harness, I took a
lot of extra time to route it in an inconspicous manner. Nobody has ever
noticed it is there. I have not noticed any leaking, or extra noise because
I removed the plug. I was going to go up through the transfer case shifter
access hole in the floor, but that space is obviously pre-occupied in your
4x4. I hope that you are able to find this grommet, because it sure made for
a nice, clean installation of my lock. The hole is large enough that I am
going to use it for some soon upcoming electrical/wiring projects I have
planned. By the way, Nice choice on that Deep Amethyst paint code, I love
that color! HTH,

I got the poplock installed, and I still have to do some bending on the
mechanism. The handle comes up too much still. It looks like it has to
ride right next to the Dodge mechanism that opens it.

I can't seem to locate the proper way to run this into the truck. There are
no openings into the cab that are easily accessible. I see some Rectangular
ones held in by spring clips, but I have no way of sealing it, plus, they
painted some sound insulating rubber over the whole floor so I can't see
where it comes in at.

To whoever installed this before, where did you run the wires through? I'd
hate to have to drill through my truck... :-(.

Thanks!

Chris
