I don't know what my top speed was, but I averaged 23.1mph over 27.5 miles
in a triathlon (timed distance) on a mountain bike (the other 300
participants rode road bikes). It was mostly shallow hills (I did pass more
road bikes than passed me). :)
Oh yeah, I'm running street slicks on the mountain bike (Diamondback
Ascent) - but it needs higher gearing..... :(
