Hi Crit,

I've got a '99 with a 318 and NV-3500. My clutch has always had VERY
high pedal engagement, and has made a clicking sound when at idle in
neutral. I've always suspected the throwout bearing and am getting ready
to install a centerforce clutch with a new t.o. bearing. The clicking
has also been audible at highway speeds, though its faster :-). I don't
have any whine, though.

>>Well, the truck went in today to have the throwout bearing and clutch
replaced
and came back the same day. I have no idea why they felt compelled to
replace
the clutch, but oh well. The clutch engages a good bit sooner now and
I'm
still a little jerky on my shifts now so I'll give them credit for
having DONE
something. As far as FIXING anything, I'm still S.O.L. The low-speed
cavitation and high-speed whine are both still there and I'm thinking
it's the
countershaft or low fluid. I'll have the service writer drive it with
me
tomorrow over lunch, then back-to-back it with a new 4.7 5-spd and
we'll see
how it goes. Man, I hate this stuff. Has anyone else had a similar
problem
and had it fixed/not fixed with a new throwout bearing?

Crit
