Need a speaker expert...

I recently purchased a pair of 12" Pioneer subwoofers from BesBuy.

I would like to use them as replacements for my indoor stereo speakers.
This is for an old (probably 7-9 year old system) stereo system I pickup up
about a year ago and have been in the process of restoring. Currently I
have two different subwoofers in my cabinets (original Pioneer and a Radio
Shack). I do not know why the original owner replaced the Pioneer subwoofer
with a cheesy Radio Shack unit.

However, the subwoofers are in speaker cabinets and each cabinet has two
other speakers in the cabinet. The other speakers have 8 Ohm impedance and
the new subwoofers have 4 Ohm impedance.

This leads to several questions... Can I put the new subwoofers in the
cabinets with the old speakers? Can I use the new subwoofers on my old
stereo without killing my audio drivers?

Also, the new subwoofers only have the +/- pickup on one side and the old
subwoofers had them on both with wires attached to both sides. Can I attach
both sets of wires to the one side or will this cause problems? One set of
wires appears to go to a set of adjusting knobs (assuming it is used to
adjust bass and treble).

I just recently had the audio drivers rebuilt so there is little concern
about tired equipment may fail as opposed to a new unit.

If it is not advisable to put these in the cabinets is there anywhere online
I can get some decent 8 Ohm subwoofers with pickups on both sides?

Dak content:
If I can't use these subwoofers in my house then they will be shaking the
windows loose on the Dak.

Thanks for any help.
