Ok after waiting an hour in line it was finally my trucks turn. The tech did
his thing and in the middle of the test noticed the hose fell off the
exhaust. So it stopped testing, put the hose back on, and started the test
back up. Well my truck failed. It passed everything but the Hydrocarbon
portion. Standards are 1.60 and my truck read 1.76
So what should I do, or how should I go about trying to fix things? The
distributor cap/rotor have 5,000 miles on them and the Autolite Coppers have
4,000 on them. The Accel Super Coil has about 5,000 miles on it also. I am
running Ford MotorSport #19 injectors, my own cold air intake, and open
element valve cover breather.....but that's it. I had about 1/4 tank of gas
in my truck during the test.
-Should I get my stock injectors professionally cleaned and put these in?
-Should I clean the K&N cone filter?
-Should I put back on the stock air filter/housing?
Could resetting the battery last weekend have caused anything? Should I run
the test next time with a full tank of gas? I have till the end of June,
when I have to renew my plates. I would like to get things fixed and
hopefully pass within a week or two. Any suggestions are appreciated.
