Okay Ryan. Wow, I've never seen this much ado about a t-stat...LOL...but
let's get you running. Are you still overheating? If so, did you check the
t-stat before installing like in a pan of boiling water so you can see it
open up? Okay, assuming you did all that and you installed it correctly,
spring side down..it fits in that groove in the manifold. You've torqued it
down. I assume your Dak is in the driveway headed toward the garage. Turn
it around so you're tilted downhill, not your ass-end but your engine-end.
Turn your heater on full blast with the temperature all the way to HOT, fan
on high. Before you start your engine, take your radiator cap off. Fill it
up to the top with water (assume you've already got it half full of
anti-freeze). Gentlemen, start your engines! Let it run until it warms
up. When it dies you'll see water movement in the radiator. Your top
radiator hose will start to get warm. Watch out for the fan! As it gets
warmer and the water moves more you should see air bubbles as the system
opens up. Keep filling until no more bubbles come out. It's okay for it to
overflow slightly as things are warming up and the t-stat opens and closes a
few times. After all that, put your radiator cap on, all the way or it
won't work right. Check you reservoir. It should be about half full. If
not put enough water in there to make it half full. Hose off the front of
the Dak where it overflowed. Antifreeze is hell on painted parts and engine
parts. Go run around and make sure it doesn't overheat anymore. Put it
away until tomorrow. In the morning before you start it back up, open the
radiator and check it one more time. If not full, fill it up. Check your
reservoir too. When cold, it should be about 1/4 full. That's it. If you
still have to fill it after this, you have a leak somewhere and a leak
causes a lot of problems. Your cooling system cannot cool efficiently
unless it's under 15-17 lbs of pressure. If you have a leak you will
eventually overheat, even with enough coolant in there.

As I don't think people are lying, is it possible that the 99 V6s DO
have a different size T-Stat???? Those of you who did use the 370-180, what
engine year and size do ya have????
I have a 99 V6 and I am using a Robert Shaw (generation2) tstat part #
GT755-180. It fit perfectly however im still overheating and cant fine a
solution. Dodge told me to "burp" it by running water through as im running
the engine.
