I understand that any scan tool can access the other computers in the
vehicle.
There are specific known addresses for connecting to the ABS, Powertrain,
Transmission, and other computers (where equipped). I even have a list of
these
known computer addresses in my SAE-HS3000 manual as well as the expected
conversations w/each for accessing diagnostic info. Something I don't have
are a
map of the manufacturer specific addresses and query's for things like
flashing,
extended diags, and re-programming. I see that at least two others on this
list
are in search of those particular things. Any progress? I have a list of
the CPU
types inside the PCM (there are 3) - as well as schematics for a diagnostic
interface (for building a scan tool) if anyone is interested. One of my
newsgroups - OpenDiag on Egroups - is making progress towards creating a
completely open (read free) scan tool for more than just OBD-II.
