Yes, you need to clean your TB but you can do it yourself. Go to:
www.speedtweaks.com and under tips and tricks will be the instructions.
Whatever you do (unless you have serious pinging problems) don't let the
dealer mess with your computer. I didn't think there was any computer
flashes regarding timing for a 94 anyhow. The plugs you can do yourself
too. You can also do #1.

Subject: DML: Dealer says...
The local dealer sent me a coupon for filter/oil change, chassis lube,
steering/suspension inspection and tire rotation for 23 bucks or something.
It was time for almost all of the above anyway, so I figured I'd take it in.
I assume the idea is to get me in there, then hit me with a list of stuff
that needs work, and try to milk a couple hundred + 23 bucks out of me.
With that in mind I wasn't surprised to get a call from the service dept
stating I needed a bunch of stuff that would total about 200 bucks:
1) battery service/terminal cleaning, etc...
2) new plugs and adjust the timing in the computer
3) throttle body cleaning, gasket, etc... due to carbon build up
I told them to skip it all, and just give me my 23 dollar maintenance, which
really pissed off the service manager. Anyway, I do need plugs but other
than that I question everything they had to say. So....(sorry so long) my
question is...is carbon buildup on the TB a problem that anyone has
encountered? Is this BS or what? If not, what are the effects? And what
about adjusting the timing in the computer? Is this for real as well?
Well, I greatly appreciate any insight as always. Thanks...
