Did you get all the air out of the system? Is your radiator cap holding 15
lbs of pressure? Did you check the weep hole in your water pump to make
sure you're not leaking? If all these things check out, when was the last
time you flushed your cooling system? You may have a blockage in your
radiator.

Subject: DML: New 180 T-Stat...still overheating

Hey all..i need your help. My truck has been periodically overheating. The
temp would rise and rise until the "check gauges" light would come on. A
quick romp on the go pedal usually got it to slowly back down. If that
didnt work a quick shut-down and re-start would always fix the problem. Itw
ouldnt appear for another day..sometimes a week.. who knows when it would
go. There was no patter to it. So i just figured a sticky t-stat. No big
deal. (It has been the factory 195 stat since i bought it.) I had been
meaning to get a 180 but had no urge to do it since it wasnt a nessary at
the moment. So i went and go one (180 Stant..thats all they carried). A
half hour later the new one is in..all good. I start the truck up to check
to make sure there is a good seal at the gasket. No problems. I go back to
shut it down at teh temp is past the red line! What the %$#@ I shut it down
and ponder the problem a minute..and well..im turning to you guys. What
could this be??

And yes it is installed properly...
