Go back and buy someone's completed project truck.
Heck, the way new trucks are priced these days this
makes even more sense than buying new anyway! Make
sure that the person has done the kind of mods that
you're interested in.
For the do-it-yourselfer, buy a used Dakota on the
cheap and go at it. Pay $5k for a nice used truck and
you can afford to replace everything from the engine
to the rear wheels, and repaint for less than the
price of most new trucks.
