The crack has to fit within a dollar bill's space. If not they will not be
able to fix it. I had a round scallop type crack in mine from a rock and I
called my insurance agent, he sent me over for a free repair ( one of my
benefits with my insurance). They said if they repaired it and it didn't
take, I could get $50 off the cost of a wind shield with them. Sounds ok
since my repair cost was $0.00. It took less then 15 minutes and left
something like a small pit in the windshield. I would say go with a company
that will give you credit towards a new windshield if it does not take.
Also don't use the heater or AC until its fixed and try to stay out of
water.
