cracked head

Well found out why the crank on the 318 broke - it turns out one of the heads was cracked all
the was from an intake port - chamber - exhaust port. Had it pressure tested and magnafluxed before
we had it worked over for the new motor.

Truck never overheated, never head debris or anything in it, etc. Is there a known problem with
heads doing this? A few of the valves kissed the pistons when the crank let go, but no damage
to the heads - and I figure the pistons would shatter before the head cracked? (who knows).

Anyone ever had the problem / and ideas on how to prevent it?

   Thanks,
   Chris Bennight
