RR install headaches

Set the scene... laid out of work weds. for a break (under guise of doing
final exams :)

I got the Crane stud conversion kit mounted, let the loctite cure for the
recommened amount of time. Installed guideplates, rockers, etc.

Set to zero lash on each cyl, with both valves closed (TDC on that cyl)
secured with 1/2 turn past 0 lash, secured lock screw. Started it up..
CLACK CLACK CLACK CLACK *scratching head* eeewwwwwwwwwww

Next round, loosened all rockers, repeated above setting each rocker to 3/4
turn past 0 lash. CLACK CLACK CLACK pop pop sputter sputter (poping back
through intake... some valves too tight) I think this was due to it being
6pm, all the HOTHOT wimmin home from work and walking their puppy dogs (big
distraction for me) :)

Let it sit till today... Got home from work, loosened all the rockers
again, found the stud on #8 exh. had come loose. Cleaned up w/ brake
cleaner, reinstalled w/ fresh loctite, waited for it to cure..

I reset all the valves to 3/4 turn past 0 lash. Now it hits like I just
dropped in a BIG cam and solid motor mounts, I'm thinking they're too tight
again (only one major distraction from a brunette that stoped to talk) :)

It seems that most folks install these rockers (and the directions) 1/2 to
3/4 turn past zero lash. Taking into consideration that I had the heads
milled very slightly, should I lean more toward the 1/2 turn side? That's
the plan for tommorrow after work anywho...

I think my problem has been one too many 10hr days standing in the sun,
coupled by too many good lookin wimmin walking by :)
