Can't say much about the loss of lower other than maybe it's the lockup....as
far as the noise, you may want to check to see if it's the tin cover that
goes over the lower half of the transmission between it and the engine
(covers the lower half of the TQ). Mine was making an awful noise and it
turned out to be that cover. I just took it out and haven't had a problem
since. I thought it was a TQ too, I even had a Chevy guy thinkin it was a bad
pump, but the noise was too tinny for either.
