Try putting just a little bit of dielectric grease inside the boot for
the coil wire. This should help insulate the voltage from regular arcing and
also from moisture. This is cheap and very easy to do. And if it solves
your problem, cool! If not, this is one more variable that can be marked off
and then we can try other ideas also. HTH
