Sometimes it isn't so easy. Is the FIPK the only mod? Was your intake
stock prior to this? If so, you're introducing a lot more air than before.
I wonder if you've leaned out everything. Did you reset your PCM?

Subject: DML: Engine knock question (97, 318)

Damn it sounds like everyone had a good time at Jon's BBQ. Too bad I live
on the West Coast otherwise I'd be there.
I just installed my K&N FIPK #57-1509 in my truck, easy install, but now I
notice at WOT I hear a slight engine knock. It never did this before, as I
drove my truck at WOT many times just before this minor mod. Before
installing the K&N I opened the TB blades and checked for oil, was none
except for a minor oil "sweat" for lack of a better word. If anybody have
any ideas or opinions they would be greatly appreciated.
I know that colder plugs help with engine pinging but this is not a ping,
it's a definite engine knock.

TIA
Jay
