It is the K&N. Been there - done that. Read my last post to the guy w/the
pinging Dak. Sorry I missed your last post.
As far as running lean - I very seriously doubt that is the case. Just because
you are (potentially) introducing more air into the motor - this doesn't mean
you are running even the slightest bit leaner. Its a control loop - when the O2
sensor senses more air in the exhaust - The PCM lengthens the injector
pulsewidths (introduces more fuel) to compensate - to reach the magic 14.7 to 1
(Air to Fuel) ratio.
Try putting the stock breather back on and try running it early in the am or
late at night when the air is not so hot. I bet the pinging is at least
reduced. I'm not saying it will go away completely. There are a plethora of
things on our trucks that can make them ping - unfortunately. Thats the price
we pay for the performance they produce - at least according to Ma-Mopar's
formula.
