You might be overloading it. The signal can degrade if loaded too much.
Can I ask why you didn't just go the 12 volt route? (RV type
electronics).
I think you may be able to get a filter for that hum, but make sure you
aren't overloading the inverter and you very well may, as Crutchfield
noted, need a much better inverter.
Realize that inverters lose 20% to 30% of the power they convert. Do
you have the heavy duty electrical group?
