Re: firestone tires

I don't know if this is an isolated incident but this
is what happened this weekend. My girlfriend's Ford
Ranger had a flat tire (Firestones, but NOT Wilderness
AT's or ATX). So we get some Fix A Flat instead of
taking the spare off. We drive down to America's Tire
Company and drop off the truck. We come back about an
hour later expecting to have the tired patched and
they tell us the store manager had decided that his
store would not service Firestone tires! They were
afraid of liability due the the Firestone recall.
They didn't patch the tire, they only aired it up.
Now they never asked us what kind of tires were on the
truck, nor was there any sign on the storefront to
warn customers that the store would not service
Firestone tires. We were considerate enough to let
them know that Fix A Flat had been put into the tire
but that didn't seem to bother them.

So we are directed to the nearest Firestone dealer who
did patch the tire. He was also happy that he was
told about the Fix A Flat stuff as it can be dangerous
when working a tire with that stuff in there.

Have any of you with Firestone tires had similar
experiences?
