Hey All,

As you all know I have installed the Hughes 1418 cam and
sprnigs/reatainers/1.6 rockers/ported intake and TB.
I started her up and had backfiring probs which were stopped by resetting
the distributor to the cylinder #1 mark at TDC. That stopped he backfires,
however the truck is still running on less power than before the mods. It
idles right where it should (with the hot cam) at 750 RPM. I think the timing
may still be off and was wondering if it is something I can check with a
timing light or not?

I used to time my old hot rods by ear with good results but I wasn't sure if
the computer would cause that method to be ineffective.

Also if anyone knows what else could be causing the power loss send me your
ideas. I don't think its an air leak because it idles fine and doesnt
backfire.
Could i be the fuel mixture? how might I check this?

here are my mods

95 cc 318 auto, transgo shift kit, HE stage II TB and intake, HE 1418 cam,
1.6 Roller rockers, MSD digi6+, MSD HVC coil & 8.5 wires, Hp cap + rotor, MP
PCM, DT headers, Gibson exhaust (3" from headers back, no cat), 180 stat,
autolite 3923's, progear DR timing chain, 24# FMS injectors, auburn LSD, 4.10
gears, superior axles, K&N X-stream filter system, MP valve covers
