I would say you had a weak hose somewhere and it just blew due to the heavy
braking. Also ... remember this for next time ... the parking/emergency
brake is cable applied so try stepping on it (wink wink nod nod). Glad
you're ok though ... and good on ya for showing Chevy what you think of
them!! Hehe.
