Actually, the plug is able to dissipate heat faster therefore allowing the
combustion chamber to cool faster. Sometimes a cooler combustion chamber
will keep the pinging from occurring if that pinging is due to a combustion
chamber that is too hot and pre-igniting the fuel before it's supposed to.

I will attempt to answer your question, although I would like verification
from other members to correct me if I am wrong. I believe the 3923's being a
colder plug allow a cooler combustion chamber temp. Less fuel burned in the
combustion process, cooler head temps, slightly richer fuel mixture
exhausted, leading to increased horsepower. Worse for emissions, but better
for performance. Lower temp generated in the combustion process being the
key factor.
