RE: speedo error

As usual, it ain't free and you don't have a lot of choices unless you use
an aftermarket system. Basically, you have a wheel speed sensor that tells
the PCM how many revolutions your wheel is rotating. Inside the CABS is a
table of the most common tires (revolutions per mile table) put on the Dak
by the factory for that year. Your dealer can tell the PCM which table
entry to use. If your tire diameter is an oddity you can only hope to come
close. There, are however, aftermarket systems that can either alter the
sensor or alter the information the PCM and/or the speedometer receives. I
don't know if any have tried these systems on the DML but I've heard of
them.

Subject: DML: speedo error

I was looking at the article in the october 01 issue of
sport truck on their project quad cab
dakota and it mentioned that they had told how to
correct speedometer error on the
dakotas in their august 01 issue in an article called
"speedometer stress." Does any one
have this information? if you do please let me know, I
replaced my stock 255 65R15's
with 275 40R17 tires on R/T rims on my 2000 5-speed dak.
 needless to say the speedo's
a tad off.

Totally unrelated: I was playing with my digital camera
today, if anyone is interested in a
pretty nice before and after shot of a dakota regular
cab getting a full hotchkis kit and R/T
rims let me know.

Thanks,
jon
