Did you connect the main heavy power wire directly to the battery +? Do not
connect the amp power wire to the fuse box. The remote turn on wire goes to the
power antenna wire on the radio and turns the amp on only when the radio is on.
The amp rating of the alternator is not necessarily a problem. If you turn on
all accessories and the stereo loud with the engine running check with a
voltmeter and see if the voltage at the battery is over 13 volts. You may have
to rev the engine to 1500 rpm or so to get the alternator up to rated output.
If the voltage is below 13 volts the alternator cannot keep up with the load and
you will not be able to play the stereo loud with all accessories on at the same
time. Also the stereo systems draws more amperage the louder you play it. I
have 2 amps in my R/T. 1 is a 560 watt and the other is a 280 watt. the R/T
came with a 130 amp alternator and it keeps up with the load just fine. I had a
similar setup in my 89 Shelby Dak and the stock alternator did ok also. I don't
know what amp it was.
