Broken Spring, followup

Well, finally got my Dak home today after it being stranded since Saturday
with a broken rear spring. The where it was replaced just the broken spring
(the other has 24k miles). I would think that they should be replaced as a
pair, and it does seem to have some strange handling now seemingly due to
different compression rates. Now to take it into my local 5-star where I
bought it and see if they'll make it right, as well as to get them to repair
the large dent to the bed & repaint (knocked the paint off inside the bed).
What a pita.

Am I right in thinking that springs should be replaced in pairs? Just
bouncing it in my driveway I can see that the new spring responds
differently than the old, the old spring compresses more and farther.

Thanks.
