Re: Which Brake Rotors to buy?

For what its worth --I bought Raybestos ROTORS and had them vented
(drilled) ---I also had my stock original rotors vented to swap out on
my wifes 00 qc. I haven't had any warping problems with either set. It
was recommended to me that I get a set of BENDIX front pads. I did --and
what a difference!! Over both stock and Raybestos pg+ pads. I can dig
up the part #s later. The initial bite is awesome! High speed/high temp
fade is far less than any other setup I've tried. I also vented my drums
and, again at the recommendation of the "brake guy" installed a set of
"spectra" organic rear shoes made by FERODO. They are a softer compound
than stock which provides a better bite although at the cost of shorter
life. They are also riveted ---this improves heat transfer away from the
shoe surface and reduces the chances of squealing because the material can
sort of move and adjust as the brakes heat up and cool down.

I have run slotted rotors before -though not on my Dak. I used to race my
Corrado in two SCCA classes so, I feel that i have some experience here.
I personally prefer drilled rotors to slotting -- It has been MY
EXPERIENCE that they cool faster and much more efficiently---perfect for
extended braking efforts like racing or ........ towing -like ME!
Although as far as gas release I think that they are very comparable.
I think my new rotors cost like $60 ea and venting was $35 ea so --bout
100 ea Arent powerslots about $125 ea hehehe ----- uh oh wheres my
fire extinguisher!!! No, really, I think its cheaper overall to vent
em. Anyway -- here ends the lesson ---hope it helps
