Totally agree with you on that.

I took a look in the labor rate guide for the Dodge Dakota's and they
don't list "Resurface Flywheel" but rather "R&R Flywheel". Guess that's
how they make their money.

To make it as easy to understand, if you're flywheel is slightly warped,
has heat cracks, or hot-spots, you WILL ruin your new clutch disc
prematurely. A die-grinder or sand paper can not fix the cracks or
hot-spots either.

I have to disagree. This is a common practice diehard racing fans. My
flywheel has been resurfaced and no problems at all. I went to a
clutch/tranny specialty shop (the owner is a old southern California
drag racer). Even he recommend it after checking for surface warpage,
cracks
etc...
