I took mine off on my Grand Cherokee, everything is fine, but that doesnt
matter now, I bought a fiberglass skin from USBODY.com.
The liner does a few things, but the main one is so that it can smother a
fire if one starts. Mine did that for me, and then I removed it instead of
replacing it.
