I dont believe that there are any common electrical probs with the pump
(except the gauge going out). Usually the failure is due to either high
mileage (running hours) or running out of gas. As has been mentioned before
on the list, the pumps use the fuel as a lubricant, so if you run out of gas
you damage the pump.
Have you run out of gas any time recently? or is there alot of miles on the
pump?
My Gen II has about 150,000 on the pump (original pump) and I've never run
out of gas. My gauge sending unit has been on the fritz since about 90,000.
