Your opinion is fine, BUT, it is still NOT an R/T. It doesn't matter what
badges you put on, what options you upgrade as would be on the special
option package, etc. It is still not an R/T. R/T is a special option
package available from the factory and unless your vehicle was ordered with
that package it is NOT that model. Just like putting a 440 6pak into an old
Coronet doesn't make it a SuperBee. Yes it has a 440 6pak, but it is still
a clone. My former 67 Satellite was a Belvedere. A 67 GTX is a Satellite,
and is also a Belvedere. BUT a Belvedere is not necessarily a Satellite,
much less not a GTX. In this case, Satellite was a trim package on the
Belvedere, and GTX was an Engine Option on the Satellite. In Dakota terms,
an R/T is a Sport, and is also a Dakota, but a Sport doesn't mean the
vehicle is an R/T (see above).

If I were judging a car that was in a STOCK class at a show, and the VIN
pointed to a 225/318/whatever, and the motor did not match the VIN, I would
severely deduct points. BUT, if the car was in a Modified class, that would
be an entirely different story. At this point in the conversation, things
are pretty black and white to me. Now, if you were to rebody a car, (take a
VIN from a Hemi, attach it to a 318, put all of the correct Hemi parts etc
into the 318 chassis) then things get a bit gray. This debate can go on
forever!! There have been many rants on this topic in Mopar Muscle, Hi Perf
Mopar, etc on this topic.

As I said earlier, do whatever you want. BUT, when it comes time to sell
it, be upfront about what the vehicle really is. Obviously, anyone on this
list will be able to tell that a 6 cylinder doesn't make an R/T, and that
there were no 4 Door or 4x4 R/Ts, but some guy on the street may not know
the difference, and just think its a great deal until after the fact when he
comes after you with a gun.

My .02
TonyC
