Speaking of getting duped by the dealerships, I took my truck in about a
month ago because of a rattle.. sure enough, it was the Cat Convertor.. 89k
miles, and gee, go figure, the mfg warrenty on Cat expired at 80k (mopar,
don't ya love 'em). So I make a few phone calls... muffler shops, auto
parts, nadda, nothing, zip.. none of 'em even list a P/N, much less carry
them.. so I build up the courage to call the dealership... and he says..
umm, yeah, that'll be a $560 job.. HUH?!?!?!!?!? NOT! Give up on that
idea.. so I hit the net, looking looking.. finally, hey bernd.. cat
converter??? yup, speedtweaks (WOOHOO!).. $90 baby... figured while I was
there, spend the $400 I just saved... so get an Accel Ignition Control
system, JBA sparkplug wires, new 180 t-stat, and a Speedtweaks IAT
adjuster... Got the Converter installed for $40 in 15 min at local muffler
shop ($130 total, that's $430 savings from dealership).. and did the rest
myself.... 14's, here I come!!! Oh yeah, she has a lovely rumble to her
now :-) Jury is out on how the Accel performs, but "feels" like it's more
responsive with less throttle... we'll see in March :-)
