How many times have you said out loud to yourself, when you see a stupid
driver doing stupid things, "Man I wish there was a cop around right now..."?
Well, tonight was one of those nights.
Today was a milestone in personal Dakota history for me. The 4x4 was
officially made drivable by the purchase of auto insurance! Today was her
first trip around Chicagoland.
I made a late light run up to the ATM at about 12:30 CST and afterwards I was
feelin frisky and didn't want to take my baby straight home. So I made a long
detour way way north up to Northwestern Dodge on Western Ave. to check out
their trucks. (something that I frequently do) Well anyway... halfway there
I look in my drivers side mirror and see a POS ricer Honda 4 door Civic with
green corner lamps and no headlights on... weaving in and out of traffic like
a total maniac. I took it upon myself to play a little road blocking game.
I wasn't gonna let this moron past. So what I did was this.. That far north,
Western is a 4 lane street - two south and two north - with about a 3 foot
striped median down the center. I took up a (non aggressive) position in the
right lane next to another car effectively preventing him from passing in
either lane. Which worked for several blocks. When he was fed up with being
unable to move passed, he swerved into the South bound lanes going north.
Thank god that there was no southbound traffic. He speeds down the center
median and gets about 5 cars ahead. I lose sight of him.
I can start to see the dealers signs up in the distance. When out of no
where, I see a blue strobe Whelen Edge lightbar fire up and a cruiser doing a
180 from going south to going north giving chase to the ricer. I couldn't
contain myself - - I just started yelling and cheering. I turned and
followed the cop down side streets as hes chasing this guy. Long story
short.. he catches the car in an alley, where the guy pulled into someone's
driveway. I went to look at the trucks at the dealer and came back and saw
the cop giving him a sobriety test. Which it looked like to me, he failed. He
was kinda swaying as the cop was having him touch his nose. And I watched in
total joy as the cuffs were slapped on and he was tossed in the back of the
Crown Vic.
Anyway... my 4x4 is running beautifully. Tomorrow I get the front end aligned
and fresh tires put on. I'll be hitting Dakota meets cross country this
year! Watch for me!
(ricers suck heh)
