I don't have the NV231.My '99 has part-time&full-time 4WD settings,but I
noticed if you're at a dead stop & want to get into 4WD shift to 4wd and
then put trans neutral-to-drive once or twice to make sure it kicks
in..Owners manual says the same thing.None of the gears are turning when
stopped so you need to get the trans out of gear to move the gears in
transfer case. Hope this helps Aaron..
