well, kinda....

I have been wanting day time running lights for a while now. so what I did
was remove the wire for the fogs to the switch. I then used an relay to
control when it comes on and off. You'll have four wires to hook up to
that. A constant power, triggered power, ground, and load (goes to the
lights).

CONSTANT - run this wire to the battery (make sure you have a fuse on it).
TRIGGERED - run this wire to a switched power (anything that is on only
when the truck is running).
GROUND - make sure you have a good ground
LOAD - run this wire to the first fog light (+) wire. Then run the load
wire to the other fog light. Run the (-) wire from the first fog light to
the other and then to a good ground.

*** make sure that you cap the old power to the fog lights...I didn't have
to because my fog switch went out.

now I can't say to much because mine is being a pain in the ass! I had it
working and then my left bulb went out...couldn't get power to it. so I
rewired it with different wire connectors. then my left bulb burnt out...
now I have been driving for a while with the fuse pulled so that I don't
have to worry about it. I plan on working on it this weekend or next. I am
going to rewire it again and solder the connection...of course I have to
learn how to at the same time... :) Also use heat shrinking tube around
all connections...really it's easy!

lastly about the relay. I am going to get a new relay that delays how long
before the fogs come on...I would like them to come on after about 15-30
seconds (you could go with something like 5-10 seconds). reason being is
because the lights come on the instant the engine is fired...look at factory
day time running lights. They come on when you put it in drive. The way I
have it now the lights come on when the engine is trying to fire...the
lights dim and the volts drop...not good. the delay relays are available
from www.amperite.com call them for you application...I have yet to figure
out which one we need...I'll be calling Monday or Tuesday...if you can wait

I personally thing they look great! they make the truck look a little lower
since the bulbs are so wide. I have got a few people that say they look
great! that is when they were working! ARG!

Does anyone have instructions on how to set things up so that the factory
fog lights stay on when you turn the high beams on (2001 Dakota).

Thanks,
Mike
