Re[2]: O/T: digital camera suggestions?

I don't know how much they cost now (bought it a while ago) but I've got a Kodak
DC 5000. I choose it 'cause it's rugged (solid metal housing and rubber armor
all around the outside) and uses flash memory cards which are relatively cheap
and very reliable. On a 64 Mb card it will hold just over 100 images on highest
resolution and I've never been able to fill it up on one trip/shooting before
downloading. I think this camera is only 2.1 mega pixels on it's highest res.
but that's always been enough for me.

Check out Canon's cameras. I've had a G1 since last May and I love it.
All my pictures from last summer & fall's DML meets were taken with it.

Keep an eye on the storage media the camera uses. Sony's memory stick
technology is proprietary and there are VERY few makers of it outside Sony.
SmartMedia cards appear flimsy, and because the controller is in the host
device, you can't keep putting larger cards in the camera forever. Compact
Flash is robust and unlimited in storage capacity, but very slightly larger
than MS or SM.
